Telephone lines cut off

Thursday 28th March

At some point during the storm last night, one of two telephone lines connecting North Perrott to Haselbury was blown into the line of passing traffic and cut through.

This line carries half of all Openreach services to North Perrott and everyone connected via this cable for the phone and internet services will be cut off at the moment.

This was reported to Openreach at 08:30 this morning and their response times are 4 hrs to make the road safe and unspecified time for repairs.

This has happened before and with several hundred wires to match and repair, it is unlikely that the repair will be completed in a matter of hours. It is hoped that phones will be working again by the end of the day.

Once the repair is complete, there may be ongoing issues if wires are crossed. In which case, the advice is to contact your service provider as openreach do not have individual accounts details.

When service has been restored, it will be notified here.

Mobile connections are unaffected and you may be able to use your mobile phone to provide a Hotspot for your own PC or network.  Mobile data usage may incur extra charges.

UPDATE 11.30. Openreach engineers have been on site to assess the damage but no repair work is being undertaken yet.
